Join the New York Water Environment Association for a free, hands-on training for drinking water, wastewater and stormwater utilities on CREAT. CREAT is part of the Creating Resilient Water Utilities (CRWU) initiative, which provides drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities with the practical tools, training, and technical assistance needed to increase resilience to extreme weather events.
This training will be held in Albany, NY on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
Workshop Objectives- Better understand current and future weather conditions in order to protect utility infrastructure and ensure the continued provision of clean and safe water to utility customers;
- Begin the process of conducting a risk assessment using CREAT; and
- Identify and share information on adaptation strategies to build utility long-term resilience.

CREAT is a risk assessment application that helps utilities in adapting to extreme weather events by increasing awareness of current and future climate conditions. CREAT, version 3.0 was recently developed in conjunction with a working group composed largely of utility and water association representatives. CREAT, version 3.0 features:
- An intuitive risk assessment process organized into five modules;
- The ability to conduct a streamlined analysis;
- Updated climate science information and data;
- Reports from each module that help communicate progress; and
- Final results comparing adaptation costs and benefits that can inform decision-making processes.
CREAT 3.0 is available at https://creat.epa.gov. New users will need to register for an account to access CREAT.
