Join the Washington County Water Conservancy District, Utah Emergency Management Division, Utah Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other organizations for a free, hands-on training for drinking water, wastewater and stormwater utilities on CREAT. CREAT is part of the Creating Resilient Water Utilities (CRWU) initiative, which provides drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities with the practical tools, training, and technical assistance needed to increase resilience to extreme weather events.
The training will be held in St. George, Utah on Thursday, March 28, 2019.
Workshop Objectives- Share information about how environmental conditions and extreme weather events (e.g., drought and flooding) could impact drinking water, wastewater and stormwater utilities in the southwestern U.S.
- Introduce EPA's CRWU resources and tools.
- Begin the process of conducting a risk assessment using CREAT.
- Identify and share information on adaptation strategies to build utility long-term resilience.
- Overview of available resources for financing resilience and adaptation.

CREAT is a risk assessment application that helps utilities in adapting to extreme weather events by increasing awareness of current and future environmental conditions. CREAT, version 3.0 was recently developed in conjunction with a working group composed largely of utility and water association representatives. CREAT, version 3.0 features:
- An intuitive risk assessment process organized into five modules;
- The ability to conduct a streamlined risk analysis;
- Reports from each module that help communicate progress; and
- Final results comparing adaptation costs and benefits that can inform decision-making processes.
CREAT 3.0 is available at https://creat.epa.gov. New users will need to register for an account to access CREAT.
